Pictured is Portrait of Paulette by Swiss painter Ferdinand Hodler on display in The Morgan Library & Museum in New York City, New York. The artist used graphite pencil, pen and brown and black ink, and traces of oil paint on JCA France laid paper to complete the portrait in 1915. Paulette was the daughter of Hodler and his mistress Valentine Godie Darel who died of cancer fifteen months after giving birth. Paulette was eventually adopted by Hodler's wife, Berthe Hodler-Jacques. Ferdinand Hodler was born in 1853 and died in 1918.
