Svolvaer Church (Norwegian: Svolvaer kirke) is a parish church of the Church of Norway in Vagan Municipality in Nordland county, Norway. It is located in the town of Svolvaer and is the main church for the Svolvaer parish which is part of the Lofoten prosti (deanery) in the Diocese of Sor-Halogaland. The white, concrete church was built in a long church style in 1934 using plans drawn up by the architects Harald Sund and August Nielsen. The church seats about 400 people. Svolvaer is the administrative centre of Vagan Municipality in Nordland County, Norway. It is located on the island of Austvagoya in the Lofoten archipelago, along the Vestfjorden. Lofoten is an archipelago and a traditional district in the county of Nordland. Lofoten is located at the 68th and 69th parallels north of the Arctic Circle. It is known for its natural environment within Norway. Lofoten is known for a distinctive scenery with dramatic mountains and peaks, open sea and sheltered bays, beaches and untouched lands. Though lying within the Arctic Circle, the archipelago experiences one of the world`s largest elevated temperature anomalies relative to its high latitude.
