Dr. Max Gomez Guest Speaker At St. Barnabas Hospital In Livingston, NJ In 1998 Editorial Image

Dr. Max Gomez, known as Dr. Max, for his informative reports on health and science on Local tv evening news broadcasts over the course of 40 years in New York City and Philadelphia, winning several local Emmys for excellence. In the early 1980s he was among the first television journalists to shed light on the AIDS epidemic. In the twilight of his career he was an informed voice on the Covid epidemic. He is seen here as the special guest speaker at the grand opening of the St. Barnabas Hospital Ambulatory Care Center in Livingston, NJ, on June 4, 1998. Although he was referred to as Dr. Max, he was not a medical doctor, but rather had a PhD in Neuroscience. Gomez was born in Havana, Cuba in 1951 and moved with his family to Miami in 1955. He died at his Manhattan home on September 2, 2023, from head and neck cancer at the age of 73.
