Description
Mongooses are carnivorous mammals with rodent-like features and beady eyes that can survive for seven to twelve years in the wild and up to twenty years in captivity. They primarily consume small animals and birds, however they will occasionally munch on greens. The ruddy mongoose is mostly a forest species that favors more secluded habitats. It has also been observed in both secluded paddy fields and somewhat wide fields. The rosy mongoose (Urva smithii) is a mongoose species native to India and Sri Lanka's hill forests.
