Close up of twining stem and haustoria of the parasitic vine Cassytha pubescens, family Lauraceae. Known as Dodder Laurel or Devils Twine. Taps into xylem of host plant to extract water and nutrients. Endemic to southeastern Australia. Must find a host within 6 weeks of germination to ensure survival.
