Description
Pictured is a rare freestanding Wari figurine of a Standing Dignitary on display in the Kimbell Art Museum in Fort Worth, Texas. The figurine is composed of intricate and densely patterned inlays of mother-of-pearl, purple and orange spondylus shell, mussel shell, turquoise, pyrite, greenstone, lapis lazuli and silver on a wood matrix. It was created in Peru, South Coast, Wari empire, during the Middle Horizon period from 600 through 1000 AD.
