Bald eagles are large carnivores. They are the National Bird of the United States of America. Habitat lifespan is 15-20 years. Bird of prey with a snow-white head and dark-brown plumage. Their sense of hearing is as good as that of humans and their distance vision is up to 3-4 times better than that of humans. Reside near rivers, lakes, and coastal areas near open water. They canât smell, but have a perfect sense of taste. If food tastes spoiled, the eagle will not eat it. Their grip strength is 10 times that of the average human. Top speed Flying: 35-43 mph. Takes approximately 5 years for eagle to mature and have the white head. Common sight in NewYorkState and the FingerLakes region.
