Rockwell B-1B Lancer USAF Bomber at SAC Museum #293183782
Description
Bomber on display at the entrance to the Strategic Air Command and Aerospace Museum in Ashland, Nebraska. The Rockwell B-1 Lancer is a supersonic variable-sweep wing, heavy bomber used by the United States Air Force. It is commonly called the "Bone". It is one of three strategic bombers serving in the U.S. Air Force fleet along with the B-2 Spirit and the B-52 Stratofortress as of 2023. An icon of the latter decades of the Cold War, the B-1B Lancer was originally designed as a strategic nuclear bomber with a mission to fly at low altitude in order to avoid Soviet early warning radars.
