Historic Mission High School Mission District San Francisco 17 #294674041
Description
San Francisco Mission High School is unique In part because of the seventeen public high schools in the city, Mission High is still on its original site the longest, going back to 1898 when the San Francisco Board of Education bought some land from the Jewish Cemetery Association, in part because cemeteries were no longer allowed within the city, so it equally helped both. Although the school did survived the 1906 Earthquake and fire, there was another big fire, this one in 1922, that destroyed that original building. This building, done in stages between 1925 and 1927, in the California Churrigueresque style, reflects the nearby Mission Church, which is in a matching style. As seen 16 October 2023.
