Title
Monterey pine Pinus radiata 3 #295130517
Description
What today is Golden Gate Park was originally the windswept sand dunes of the Outside Lands area, which included what would also become the neighborhoods of the Sunset and Richmond Districts. The parks original superintendent, William Hammond Hill, started by planting low grasses then bushes before being able to plant trees. This was continued by his successor John McLaren. Of the first three tree varieties was included the Monterey pine Pinus radiata, which can still be found throughout the park. As seen 24 April 2022.
