Oculus – World Trade Center Station, located at Lower Manhattan, Ground Zero, New York, United States. #295528775
Description
The Oculus is the new World Trade Center Transportation Hub that was designed by the Spanish architect Santiago Calatrava and constructed between 2008 and 2016. The structureâs white metal-clad steel ribs reach up and out in a monumental move symbolic of a hand releasing a dove. The Oculus is home to 12 subway lines, the World Trade Center PATH station, and dozens of retailers, serving over a million people every week. In view is the entrance to the PATH station that from where trains to New Jersey leave. It looks like the body cavity of a whale.
