Title
North ridge which hems in the pass and Oregon Trail. #296602544
Description
Canadian smoke and early morning mist color the ridge as the clouds begin to break up after a night of thunderstorms all around Scotts Bluff, Nebraska. The northern ridge which forced travelers to swing through the pass is an escarpment of rock rising almost straight up from the valley below for about 800 feet. This view from the actual Oregon Trail shows tall prairie grasses and sage brush leading up to the cliffs.
