Dave Allen, Irish and English comedian and raconteur performs in his Broadway show, 'An Evening with Dave Allen,' in October, 1981, at the Booth Theatre. Allen gained great popularity in Britain, Australia, and New Zealand before becoming well known in America. In 1981 he toured with the then relatively unknown rock and roll group, The Beatles. The following year he toured South Africa with the bawdy American singer, comedian Sophie Tucker. He lost part of his left index finger in a machinery accident as a young man but turned the misfortune to comedy gold in his act. He died in London on March 10, 2003, in London at the age of 68.
