Description
Nariva Swamp is accessible by kayak or dinghy in the wet season or on foot in the dry season with Nariva Swamp Eco tours. This internationally protected forest reserve is Trinidadâs largest mangrove freshwater wetland, located behind lush coconut groves. Within the swamp, there is the Bush Bush Wildlife Sanctuary, home to more than 200 species of birds and animals. The most rare and critically endangered white-fronted Capuchin monkey can be foud here.The largest of the three trogons is the Green-backed Trogon (formerly White-tailed). In the event that the size difference between this and the Guianan Trogon isnât immediately apparent, males of this species have a beautiful blue eye-ring and a pure white tail.
