Title
New Guardhouse at historic Fort Laramie #297438190
Description
Restored guardhouse which housed the guard offices and cells used to house punished soldiers or ones awaiting court martial. Cells were much bigger than the old guardhouse cells and had better circulation. It was located on the southeastern side of the parade ground next to the mess halls were the meals were cooked and served. Made of the same concrete mixture as other buildings, it remained viable because of the roof overhang protecting the walls from the elements.
