Secular Israelis carry banners and pickets protesting a new right-wing government which gave disproportionate power to ultra-religious groups. Their reference calls their foes as adherents of Ayatollah Judaism, a reference to the Iranian clerics who hold sway. They are particularly irked by the fact that unlike other Israelis, Ultra-Orthodox men are exempt from army service and receive stipends from the government to study in religious schools and institutions for some, stretching into decades.
