Phoenix, Arizona: Frank Lloyd Wright Church - Spire and Bell Tower #29960857
Description
The First Christian Church in Central Phoenix, Arizona USA (on Seventh Avenue) was built (1973) after Frank Lloyd Wrightôs death - following his plans to the letter. The Church Architects Guild of America has called this church one of the 10 best church buildings ever built in America. The four-sided spire and the roof windows (stained-glass) that cap the worship center are designed to provide the worship room with a colorful ceiling light. The four-sided spire appears to be triangular, triangles being Wrights favorite shape. The free-standing (four-sided), 120-foot bell tower (to the left) offers the same optical illusion as the roof spire. ( More images of this church - from different perspectives - are in my portfolio (>Lloyd Wright).
