Description
The Basilica of Santa Cecilia is located in the square of the same name in the Trastevere district of Rome. Legend has it that the church was built on the family home of Cecilia, who suffered the torture around 220. The Golden Legend tells that Pope Urban I, who had converted her husband, Valerian, and had witnessed her martyrdom, buried Cecilia's body among those of the bishops and consecrated her house by transforming it into a church
