Large lake impounded by the Buffalo Bill dam on the north fork of the Shoshone River in northern Wyoming. Located just west of Cody, Wyoming the lake provides water for the city of Cody and ranches in the area. Its main purpose is for irrigation of the farms and ranches , but it also provides recreation facilities for the use of the general public. the lake is nestled in the lower hills between the Bighorn Mountains and the Absaroka range of the Rocky Mountains. Taken under blue skies with haze from the smoke of Canadian wildfires coloring the horizon.
