Description
This tree is a shrub from the Melastomataceae family. Distributed in tropical and subtropical forests in India, Southeast Asia and Australia, it is a plant on the edge of the rainforest. Bees are the main pollinator of this species. Affine melastoma was first described by the Scottish botanist David Don in 1823.
