Description
Pictured is a painting by Makoto Endo of Lawrence of Arabia and a Brough Superior motorcycle in the Haas Moto Museum. Thomas Edward Lawrence was a British archaeologist, army officer, diplomat and writer born in 1888. He earned international fame as Lawrence of Arabia, a title used for the 1962 film based on his wartime activities. He was a keen motorcyclist and owned eight Brough Superior motorcycles at different times. He met his death in 1935 at the age of 46 while aboard his seventh Brough, swerving to avoid two boys on bicycles, losing control, and being thrown over the handlebars. Makoto Endo created a one-of-a-kind painting technique throwing Indian ink on canvas with bamboo chopsticks.
