Kirishima Shrine is mainly dedicated to the god Qiongqiongzu in Japanese mythology. He was ordered by his grandmother Amaterasu Omikami to rule the world on earth. He came from the sky carrying three kinds of sacred weapons and ears of rice. According to legend, The place where Qionqiong Pseudo Lord descended at that time was Takachiho Peak, which stood behind Kirishima Shrine. The original Kirishima Shrine was built next to Takachiho Peak, but it was rebuilt and relocated several times due to volcanic eruptions. And this shrine, which is named The Land of the Descendant (the place where the Descendant descends), is said to be quite effective in blessing wishes to come true.
