Ciplukan is a plant native to America which is now widely distributed in tropical areas of the world. In Java it grows wild in gardens, moorlands, roadsides, gardens, bushes, light forests, forest edges. The roots of the ciplukan plant are generally used as an anthelmintic and to reduce fever. The leaves are used to heal broken bones, dropsy, boils, ulcers, heart strengthening, sprains, stomach aches and gonorrhea. The ciplukan fruit itself is often eaten to treat epilepsy, inability to urinate, and jaundice.
