Waiting for the sun to rise from behind Mount Cermei #302304002
Description

The name of this mountain comes from the word cereme (Phyllanthus acidus, a type of herbaceous plant that bears small fruit with a sour taste). Ceremai is a third generation volcano. The first generation is a Pleistocene volcano located next to Mt. Ceremai, as a continuation of Plio-Pleistocene volcanism on Tertiary rocks. The second generation of volcanoes is Mount Gegerhalang, which before collapsing formed the Gegerhalang Caldera. And the third generation of volcanism during the Holocene took the form of Mount Ceremai which grew on the north side of the Gegerhalang Caldera, which is estimated to have occurred around 7,000 years ago.
