Description
Although the Dahlia is native to the higher elevations of Central America and Mexico, it has been the official flower of San Francisco since October 1926 by the urging of then Mayor 'Sunny' Jim Rolph with complete unanimity of the Board of Supervisors. The husband and wife sculptor team of Brad Oldham and Christy Coltrin did this unique and very lovely sculptor in honor of the city flower, named 'Dig Down Dahlia' because they enjoy digging and find gardening relaxing.
