As the stubborn Covid-19 virus had a resurgence, the Metropolitan Museum of Art in NYC advised its visitors to wear a protective mask to safeguard their health. Less than one-third appeared to comply. Displayed here is Edgar Degas' 'The Absinthe Drinker,' also called 'In a Cafe,' an oil on canvas painted in 1975-6. The Met exhibit on Manet and Degas, among the founders of Impressionism ran from September, 2023 until January, 2024. This image was made in the closing days of the show on January 4th and was particularly crowded.
