There are around 700 species of members of Selaginella, with a tendency to split down to the genus level because the results of recent studies show increasingly clear groupings. Paku Cakar Ayam (Selaginella), indonesian name is a genus of a group of vascular plants which is the only member of the Selaginellaceae family. This plant reproduces by free spores so it is considered part of the fern plant (Pteridophyta).
