Aubange, France, January 26, 2024 Traffic slowdown and blockage of the Franco-Belgian border by angry farmers #305498219
Description
After gathering very early in the morning, in Serrouville, in Meurthe et Moselle (54) North, around a hundred tractors and agricultural vehicles caused significant slowdowns in traffic on the motorway towards Brussels and towards Luxembourg. Very angry French farmers blocked truck vehicles heading to Luxembourg, Belgium and Holland (BENELUX). On the other side of the border, their Belgian counterparts have also temporarily blocked the road into France. This highly strategic point for European traffic is a symbol. Indeed, âfree tradeâ between European Union member countries is unfair to French farmers. There are many suicides in this profession, because farmers can no longer pay their debts. The youngest are worried about the future and the seniors are no longer able to find buyers for their farm, after a lifetime of hard work. The discontent continues to intensify and many other convoys converge on Paris to block the capital, a few months before the Olympic Games.
