Ebisu Shrine, a shrine just outside Ebisu Station, Shibuya-ku, Tokyo, Japan #
Description

According to an ancient legend, during the reign of Emperor Keiko (about 2,000 years ago), the ancient hero Nihon no Musunon (the Japanese warrior) rested in this Ebisu area when he pacified the eastern part of Japan, and enshrined six heavenly deities among the seven generations of gods and goddesses. After that, the local people praised his virtues and called the shrine Amatsu Shrine (Dairokuten-sama), and it has been widely worshipped and enshrined by the local residents as a god of household safety, good health, and a bountiful harvest. After the war, the shrine was newly built in its present location as a commemorative project due to land readjustment, and in 1959, Ebisu-sama, the god of business prosperity and marriage, was enshrined at Nishinomiya Shrine in Hyogo Prefecture, in reference to the name of the place, Ebisu, and the name of the shrine was changed to Ebisu Shrine.
