Eliot's cichlasoma is a freshwater ray-finned fish from the Cichlid family. It is distinguished by its attractive body coloring, calm character and medium body size, which has made it extremely popular in the aquarium hobby. The body is elongated, slightly compressed laterally. The head is pointed, with a large mouth and fleshy lips. The eyes are big. The maximum body size of the fish is 15 cm, but usually in an aquarium it does not exceed 12 cm, males are larger than females. The whole body is dotted with small shiny spots, which at a certain lighting angle “flare up”, making the fish even brighter. In the head area, the spots merge into lines.
