Torremolinos is a city of very ancient origins. For centuries a quiet fishing village, in the '50s and '60s it suddenly became the queen of seaside tourism on the Costa del Sol. After a period of crisis, "Torrie" had a bit of a makeover and improved its quality of services to return to occupy a leading place in the international tourism panorama. A nostalgic legacy of the past is the Torre de los Molinos, the observation tower built by the Arabs in the 14th century which gives the city its name (also called Torre del Pimentel). Other beautiful buildings in the center of Torremolinos are the church of Nuestra Señora del Carmen and the House of the Navaja.
