The ladle cactus or Opuntia cochenillifera is a type of pliers cactus belonging to the Cactaceae family or cactus tribe and belonging to the genus Opuntia.[1] In Indonesia, this plant is commonly called the centong cactus or the Javanese call it tentong.[1] In England, this plant is called Warm hand and nopal cactus.[1] The centong cactus is still closely related to the tentong thorn, Cangkang thorn, spotted cactus, Santa Claus cactus, and cow's tongue cactus.[1] The main stem of the centong cactus is short with a diameter of up to 20 cm.[2] The flowers of this plant are arranged solitary, developing from areoles along the upper edge and appear to have many sepals.[2] The flower crown of this plant has many red petals and in the periantum there are many stamens.[2] The petals and corolla unite to form a hypanthium.[2] The ovary has a single locus and many seeds
