Description
Pictured is a single brown pelican, binomial name Pelecanus occidentalis, standing on the shore at the edge of the water of Chokoloskee Bay in Florida. The shore of an island is in the background. The brown pelican mainly feeds on fish, but occasionally eats amphibians, crustaceans, and the eggs and nestlings of birds. Chokoloskee Bay is roughly ten miles long and two miles wide. It is located along along Floridaâs Gulf Coast and is separated from the Gulf of Mexico by the Ten Thousand Islands.
