Interior seating, Gillioz Theatre balcony, Springfield, Missouri, February 2024 #307829512
Description
The historic Gillioz Theater, built by M.E. Gillioz in 1926 on the newly established Route 66, also known as the Mother Road, was originally a hybrid theater featuring both films and vaudeville acts. As vaudeville faded, the theater relied increasingly on films and eventually closed. It was restored and reopened in 2006. The ornate Spanish Colonial Revival design follows many of the Spanish Colonial traditions while introducing elements of other architectural influences.
