Webster Street foot bridge San Francisco 5 #309113109
Description
The Webster Street foot bridge in San Francisco was built in 1967 to act as a conduit between Japantown and neighboring Fillmore and Western Addition neighborhoods. It is because Japantown is separated from The Fillmore and Western Addition by Geary Boulevard, one of the most heavily traveled streets in the city, that this foot bridge over the four lane road was a big improvement. Recently repainted red, the bridge now matches the torii gates found at the Japanese Shinto temples.
