Description
Pituophis is a genus of nonvenomous colubrid snakes commonly referred to as gopher snakes, pine snakes, and bull snakes, which are endemic to North America. The bullsnake (Pituophis catenifer sayi) is a large nonvenomous colubrid snake endemic to the central United States, northern Mexico, and southwestern Canada. It is currently considered a subspecies of the gopher snake (Pituophis catenifer). Bullsnakes average about 6 feet (1.8 m) in total length, and specimens of up to 8 feet 4 inches (2.5 m) have been recorded.
