Barsana Monastery is one of the landmarks of Maramures. The reason being that, is the beautiful church and the other wooden buildings made by craftsmen from Maramures inside of assembly. The Barsana Monastery church is one of the tallest wooden church in Romania, having 57m height, part of the UNESCO world heritage. Barsana Monastery ensemble consists of: The Barsana Monastery complex consists of: the New Church of the Monastery ("Council of the Saints 12 Apostles"), the Summer Altar, the Fountain with Holy Water, the Abbot's House, the House of the Nuns, the Priest's House, the Belfry Tower and the Museum. The Summer Altar was built between 1996-1997. It is made out in the same specific style of popular architecture in Maramures.
