Description
Saint Ana - Rohia Monastery is an Orthodox place of worship, located in the southern part of Maramures county, at a distance of approx. 50 km from the city of Baia Mare. Built in 1923, it was a small stone and brick church and a monastic house. Next to this little church, along the time were built The Oak house, The Abbot House, The Chapel House - which also houses the library, one of the largest treasures from the area, The Poet's House, The Summer Shrine, The Maramures Gate, The White House and the Museum. In 1996, the old church was demolished, and the new church was built in its place.
