Post Assisted Log Structures on a Valley Stream #312396661
Description
Beaver Dam Analogues (BDAs) or Post Assisted Log Structures (PALS) are man-made structures designed to mimic the function of a natural beaver dam. In general, the design and installation of BDA complexes is a simple, cost-effective, non-intrusive approach to stream restoration that can influence hydraulic, geomorphic and hydrologic processes in order to achieve a range of riparian restoration goals. They can be used to encourage beaver establishment of an area, assist in translocation of beavers, BDAs can be used to create deep-water habitat that reduces the risk of predation for those beavers as well.
