The sacrum is a large, triangular bone at the base of the spine that forms the back wall of the pelvis. It's made up of five fused vertebrae (S1-S5) and connects the upper and lower extremities to the spine. The sacrum also stabilizes the pelvis, anchors the lumbar spine, and transmits forces from the lumbosacral articulation to the pelvis.
