Actress, dancer, and singer, Chita Rivera has been nominated for performances in 10 Broadway productions and is a winner of 2 Tony Awards. She was a queen of the musical stage. Here she is captured, at age 69, at the Nothing Like a Dame variety production at the St. James Theatre in New York City, on March 18, 2002. She has appeared on numerous television shows and films in her over 6-decade career. Rivera was the first Puerto Rican and first Latina to earn the Kennedy Center Honors and is a recipient of the Presidential Medal of Freedom. She died in New York City after a brief illness, on January 30, 2024. She was 91.
