Pictured is a large scale memorial mural for Jayce Carmelo Luevanos by Ruben Esquivel on the outside of a building in Uvalde, Texas. He was tragically murdered at age ten in the horrific Rob Elementary School shooting in Uvalde, Texas, on May 24th, 2022. He was one of twenty-one victims, nineteen children and two teachers. In the wake of the mass shooting, 21 portrait artists transformed Uvalde's downtown, creating 21 murals, which are part of the 'Healing Uvalde Mural Project'. Each mural honors a victim and was painted by the artist in collaboration with the family to humanize the victim and remember and celebrate their life.
