Cremona ITU European Triathlon Sprint Cup #31505479
Description
Sport and culture united in the Cremona ITU European Triathlon Sprint Cup. The Italian leg of European Cup hosted in the historical charm of this Lombardy town thanks to the organizational effort of Triathlon Cremona Stradivari in collaboration with Fitri and under the watchful eye of the Etu. The world of triathlon once again can appreciate the wonders of this Italian town of art and music during the completion itself. The traces of the 2013 edition mirror those of last year which were fully appreciated by the protagonists themselves. he swimming section takes place in the Port area of the Canal, which was used for the very first time last year. This was something the Stradivari team pushed for allowing this section to take place in open water. The cycling section sees a short stretch taking the athletes to the town circuit where several repetitions are made around Piazza Stradivari. Next to the Town Hall, this square is strategically placed as it is the crossroads to some of the most important streets of the town. The square takes its name after the world famous violinmaker (1643-1737). he second change zone for the running section brings the athletes to the Piazza del Comune, the heart of the town where we can admire the Cathedral (the construction of which began in 1107, destroyed by an earthquake in 1117 and consecrated in 1592).; the Torrazzo (the highest belfry in Europe built between 1267 and 1305); the Baptistry (completed in the 15TH century and the Town Hall ( from 1206 onwards). The extremely technical town course allows the athletes to compete among the local shops, museums, historical palaces and offers them an opportunity to appreciate the cultural, traditional and historical beauty of the town. In this way Cremona will become the frame of this spectacular sporting event.
