Marconi Memorial San Francisco 3 #315420874
Description
Guglielmo Marconi is credited with the invention of the first wireless, the first radio, in 1895. This memorial bench dedicated to him in 1939 at the intersection of Lombard and Kearny Streets, at the foot of Coit Tower on Telegraph Hill is a fitting location. On the bronze relief there is an inscription in Latin that translates to "Outstripping the lightning, the voice races through the empty sky." As enjoyed 10 April 2024.
