Red ginger can be grown in humid tropical climates. For example, 7,100 red ginger plants can be planted per acre of coconut plantation, with the rhizomes planted at a depth of 7–10 cm. The flowers are harvested with a long stalk of 50–80 cm length, and the inflorescence has a shelf life of 2–3 weeks.
