Close up of the flowers of the talipot palm which is scientifically known as Corypha umbraculifera is known for its extraordinary flowering pattern. This flowering talipot palm was photographed in the Botanical Gardens or Royal Botanical Gardens in Port of Spain, Trinidad, West Indies. It typically takes around 30 to 80 years to flower, producing an enormous inflorescence that can reach up to a height of 25 feet. After flowering, the palm dies, a phenomenon known as monocarpy.
