Description
Robinia hispida L. is a deciduous shrub belonging to the family Fabaceae, with a height of 1-3 meters. The young branches are densely covered with purple red hard glandular hairs and white curly hairs, while the biennial branches are densely covered with brown bristles. The leaf axis is covered with bristles and white short curly hairs, with grooves on it. There are 5-7 (-8) pairs of leaflets, which are elliptical, ovate, broadly ovate to nearly circular. Racemes axillary, 3-8 flowers, bracts ovate lanceolate, sepals purple red, oblique bell shaped, corolla red to rose red, petals petiolate, flag petal nearly kidney shaped. Stamens bipartite, anthers elliptical, ovary nearly cylindrical, densely glandular protrusions, slightly pilose along sutures, stigma terminal, numerous ovules, linear pods, short neck, with 3-5 seeds. The flowering period is from May to June, and the fruiting period is from July to October.
