Description
The Bush Snail ( Bradybaena similaris ) is a land snail that is often found around the yard or garden . [2] The shell is round and convex, brownish yellow . [2] Adult snails measure 10â12 mm, 14â18 mm in diameter with 5-6 circular grooves. [3] Usually hides in bushes , under rocks or other objects on the ground . [2] This snail lives in lowlands up to an altitude of 2,000 meters. [2] Spread throughout almost all tropical areas. [2] Bush snails are also known as pests of vegetables and ornamental plants . [2] Eating young leaves and roots, thus disrupting the growth of the plant being attacked, can also become a host for the parasitic worm Eurytrema pancreaticum which causes inflammation of the pancreas in cattle , buffalo , sheep , goats and pigs . [2]Dundee and Cancienne report that this snail can survive winters in Louisiana where temperatures can fall as low as 5-10 °C. [4] As this species is often found in areas with tall grass and high humidity. [4] Usually found in gardens, greenhouses, and sometimes under logs or fallen branches. [4]
