The North American lobster industry is big business #317199408
Description
Invented in 1808 by Ebenezer Thorndike of Massachusetts, the early lobster traps, also called lobster pots, were made of wood and rope. This modern trap has several features like the entrance, bait bag, and escape vent for undersize individuals to exit. Maine lobster is the industry term for the North Atlantic Lobster (Homarus americanus) and differentiates it from the spiny lobster and other lobster species. Lobster populations continue to shift north and east due to warming waters in the Gulf of Maine.
