Fira town, the capital of Santorini island, hanging from a multicolored cliff over Aegan sea #317584420
Description
The island of Thira (Santorini) was destroyed by a volcanic eruption that took place around 1600 BC. A large part of the island sank into the sea creating the colored cliff on which the city of Fira was built. The caldera left behind by the eruption was filled with sea water and has since become the largest in Europe (25 square kilometers). People from all over the world come here to witness the dramatic view that changes colors and textures as the sun sets.
